Cornerstone Community Church was founded in 1998, filled with passion and vision for the Lord’s mission in building three areas in every life:
- Christ in me – a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Me, in Christ’s Body – a personal ministry within the Cornerstone Church family.
- Christ’s Body in the world – our united church outreach to others near and far.
The “mosaic” of our ministry teams are structured to help you understand the ways that we are currently seeking to implement this mission. Some areas are long-standing and thriving. Others need team members to strengthen them. Some are awaiting leadership and team members to have their start. The call upon each believer to grow and contribute as a member of the body of Christ is clear in scripture. (1 Cor. 14; Ro. 12:1-13; Eph. 4:1-16). May this guide serve to help you discover your unique place in God’s Mosaic, here in the Cornerstone community.
BODY LIFE – This team oversees a lot of the church body functions. Preparation for the Lord’s Supper, building décor and seasonal displays, baptism helps, advent service preparations, special events, funeral services, meal coordination and more are a part of this vital ministry.
BUILDING/GROUNDS – Church property and its upkeep is the focus of this hands-on team. From routine maintenance and scheduled services, to forecasting renovation or tackling emergency needs, the property team is determined to present excellence in the building and grounds that make up our church home.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION – Age or interest-appropriate classes are conducted as part of our ongoing commission to train up disciples of the Lord Jesus. Many classes take place on Sundays as a part of our schedule. Other classes meet throughout the week. Teachers, assistants, and substitutes for these groups are members of CCC – men and women committed to Biblical inerrancy, systematic teaching, practical application, and the preservation of the unity of the body of believers. All of our CE workers are screened and approved for working with our youth and in our nursery.
FELLOWSHIP – Cornerstone has many opportunities throughout the year for special gatherings and activities. This team plans and coordinates those events, such as group meals and sports team activities. Worship greeters and ushers are also a crucial part of this group, as they strive to put a face to Cornerstone for all our guests. Greeters function as the “first contact” and assist our guests to provide useful information, introductions, and a welcome that is genuine and heartfelt.
FINANCE – This group administrates the financial aspects of the church. The budget is developed and weekly accounting is maintained. The team issues financial reports and strives to communicate the importance of sound financial planning and stewardship on an individual, familial, and church-body level.
FIRST RESPONDERS – This team plays a crucial role in existing as the first line of action in matters of emergency. Trained personnel are CPR certified and familiarize themselves with Cornerstone’s First Responder Manual on all emergency procedures.
MEDIA/TECH – Responsible for the audio/video portions of the worship services and other events. Individuals on this team have technical skills for computer, soundboard, lighting and other multimedia outlets. This groups also serves as a support to many of our traveling music ministries.
MEN’S MINISTRY – Regular meetings, Bible study, special projects and outreach all encompass this team. Meeting for devotions and fellowship, the men’s group often ministers by setting up the building for various events at the church.
MISSIONS: FOREIGN – This team meets regularly to oversee CCC’s involvement with the missions families it supports. Correspondence, support issues, hosting, conferences and practical helps including short-term trip planning are part of this team’s focus. The team reports to the church and encourages missions endeavors and giving through its communications and ministry within the body.
MISSIONS: LOCAL – This team works as the evangelism/outreach arm of CCC, to specifically target our “presence” ministries within the community. They coordinate with other teams and individuals to facilitate our involvement in community-focused outreach. This team oversees events on the Brooklyn square, conducts service ministries and plans open door events such as concerts and charitable events as our vision grows.
STEPHEN’S GROUP – Members of this ministry team meet together to supply practical helps for those experiencing short or long term needs. This team is composed of those with willing hearts and hands capable of ministering to both physical and spiritual needs. Shut-ins, medically frail, homebound convalescents, and others with struggles to maintain homes and outlook are cared for by this traveling team.
STUDENT MINISTRY – For students ages 6th–12th grade, this group meets for the purpose of growth in the Lord, growing friendships and reaching out to youth. Regular meetings include music, devotions, recreation and food! Special activities and service projects round out a fun and challenging schedule for our teens.
SENIOR MINISTRY – Regularly scheduled get-togethers such as the monthly Joy Fellowship luncheon and weekly ministry at the Brooklyn Living Center provide times of engaging studies, focused events and lasting friendships.
WOMEN’S MINISTRY – This ministry exists to reach out in Christian compassion to equip women to know God, to be mentored in their Christian life and to influence the next generation of young women. This team has involvement in many other groups, with aims at Biblical outreach, fellowship and encouragement.
WORSHIP/MUSIC – Praise team singers, musicians, the adult choir, children’s choirs and hand bells are just a few of the musical groups within the Cornerstone body. Dedication to regular rehearsal, commitment to various outreach opportunities and a desire to lead others in worship are needful skills for this important area of ministry.
